With a view to restoring Geguti Palace, Kutaisi National Museum has resumed archaeological activities. Crystal stays committed to conservation works of the national heritage and offers support to ongoing archaeological works in Geguti Palace.
On September 17, along with the members of the expedition, representatives of Crystal took part in Geguti archaeological work in the frame of the project “Be Friend of Heritage’’ – run by the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation.Crystal is the sponsor of the Museum, founder of the Museum Friends’ Club and supporter of a number of outstanding exhibitions.
Geguti Palace is a monument of the Georgian architecture of feudal ages. Rehabilitation works started in 2014, at the initiative of the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation. Rehabilitation of the Palace entails archaeological excavations. Following performed archaeological works, remnants of IV –V and VI century fortresses have been discovered. Plans of brick palaces dated back to VIII-X centuries and Queen Tamar period have been explored. Excavations have been performed in late medieval cellars and other agricultural buildings.
Ongoing expeditions in Geguti palace are just the beginning. JSC MFO Crystal plans to stand by side of Kutaisi Historical Museum and take an active part in forthcoming expeditions.
